CONTINUING RESOLUTIONS

OF THE COUNCIL

OF ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH

Section 5-Executive Council

R5.01.  This section contains all continuing resolutions regarding the Executive Committee of the Congregational Council of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

R5.02.  The purpose of Executive Committee is to coordinate the activities of the Council of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

R5.03. The Executive Committee shall comprise the Pastor(s), Council President, Council Vice-President, and Council Secretary.

R5.04. Specific duties and responsibilities of the Executive Committee of the Council are as follows:

a. shall determine date, time and location of monthly Council meetings.

b. shall propose the agenda for the Council meetings.

c. shall propose the dates for the Annual Congregational meeting in January and the semi-annual Congregational meeting in May or June.

d. shall propose the agendas for the Annual and Semi-Annual Congregational meetings.

e. shall propose a date and place, and oversee preparations of the content for any Council retreat.

f. shall organize for meals or refreshments at Council-sponsored events including Coffee with the Council, Soup with the Council, Council retreats and off-site Council meetings.

g. shall coordinate all communications with the Metropolitan Chicago Synod,

h. shall function as the personnel committee on behalf of Council:

    i. to oversee the hiring and termination of lay staff,

    ii. to oversee any personnel problems with lay staff,

    iii. to oversee the Pastoral Annual Review Process including direct     performance review with the Pastor(s),   

    iv. in cooperation with the Operations Finance Committee, prepare annual budget salaries and benefit packages for staff and clergy.
