CONTINUING RESOLUTIONS

OF THE COUNCIL

OF SAINT PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH

Section 6 – Council President

R6.01. This section contains all continuing resolutions regarding the President of the Council of St Paul Lutheran Church.

R6.02. The President is elected annually by the Congregation Council from its membership at the close of the first Congregation Council meeting held after the annual Congregation meeting in May or June of each congregational year.  The President shall also be President of the Congregation.

R6.03. Specific duties and responsibilities of the President of the Council are:

a. Shall preside over all Council and Congregational meetings. If neither the President nor the Vice President is able to preside at a meeting, then the President shall appoint the Secretary of the Executive Committee to preside at that meeting. This appointment may be a standing appointment.

b. Shall facilitate the work of the Council and of all Council Committees and ensure that all the Council members and committees are managing the responsibilities assigned to them by the Constitution, By-Laws and Continuing Resolutions.

c. Shall chair the Executive Committee and call meetings of this committee to arrange the Council and the Congregational meeting agenda and for other necessary purposes.

d. Shall serve as an ex-officio member of all other Council Committees and shall designate an Executive Committee member to attend meetings of committees, whenever necessary, to provide guidance or to evaluate the functioning of a committee.

e. Shall, together with the Vice President, confer as often as necessary with the Pastor(s), either individually or collectively, to review past progress and to plan future efforts.

f. Shall delegate responsibilities and functions, not otherwise provided for in the Constitution, By-Laws or Continuing Resolutions, to the Council members or members of the congregation as deemed necessary.

g. Any additional duties or responsibilities as designated by a Continuing Resolution.
